First Responders Resiliency Hits the East Coast

Non-profit focused on helping first responders will conduct training and seminars on the East Coast in May

First Responders Resiliency, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to training first responders to cope with the emotional, psychological and physical trauma and stress exposures of their jobs, is excited to announce an East Coast offering of their unique resiliency training and education for first responders. The organization will conduct the following events in May on the East Coast:

May 18: Coatesville, Pennsylvania: Chester County Dept. of Emergency Services, CISM Peer support team - 09:00-18:00 - First Responders Resiliency training.

May 20: Baltimore, Maryland: Cumberland County Dept of Public Safety: 13:00-17:00 - First Responders Resiliency training.

May 21: Baltimore, Maryland: 15th Annual International Critical Incident Stress Management Foundations World Congress Conference: 09:00-11:45 (Putting PTSD Out of Business Presentation).

First Responders Resiliency, Inc. addresses every component of the issues affecting first responders with their unique, multi-faceted approach of implementing education, skills, techniques and tools that have profound impacts on stress reduction and management, thus improving the professional and personal lives of those that serve. The organization implements and leverages everything in its approach, from techniques used by the Navy SEALS to the most recent research provided by neuroscientists and elite athletes alike.

Asked to sum up what these events are all about, Susan Farren, the founder of First Responders Resiliency, Inc., states, “If you are or ever have been a first responder, you know reactive care to traumatic events (therapists, EAP and CISM) is not always 100% effective at dealing with the situations you see every day, many of which are not considered critical. Make no mistake, the cumulative stress of dealing with the issues we face is taking its toll.

What many of us are good at is compartmentalizing our emotions so we can finish the job. The problem is, that skill often follows us home, making it difficult to separate work and home, and, eventually, separate your feelings about work from everything else.

Our one-of-a-kind conferences and trainings take a look at the neuroscience behind the stress that makes us great at what we do but simultaneously creates its own set of challenges in our personal lives.”

She noted that all the presenters and instructors for each of the training conferences is a current or former first responder, like herself, and, therefore, is intimately familiar with the emotional struggles of emergency personnel.

First Responders Resiliency, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the psychological, physical and emotional well-being of first responders. Founded and run by first responders, the organization provides comprehensive, holistic and proactive training to equip first responders to become more resilient both on and off duty. Research and science are the foundation of this program and support every component of the human system assisting both first responders and their families.
